Kenwood KR-4070 worth my time??

 :thmbsp:

I'm over bidding on a 4070 right now myself. Never had one. Usually a sansui person but the one kenwood amp and tuner I had I really liked. Can't remember the model amp but think it was 40 watts per and very simple. Not a lot of fluff. Gave it to a buddy that's on disability and didn't have anything to play his albums. Looking to replace it. He used to be such a nice boy, he used to mow my grass.

I have two - One with the steel box and one with the optional wood sleeve case. They are stout little units with decent tone but the always-impressive Kenny tuner section. The old TO-3PL packaged outputs can be replaced with modern TO-220-3 devices with good success, and the rest of the parts are straightforward.

I have one too that I use as my main - found it by a garbage can. No wood or anything on mine but it's not a bad sounding receiver despite not being a super highly regarded one.

Original question is to buy the KR 4070 or not.

I would have gone home and picked up a cord with plug, two wire nuts, my pocket knife and two small speaker with wires. Then return to store and install the cord on the cut off cord and plug it in to see it if it lights up. If it does I would install speakers and test on am or fm and check play. All okay, buy.
