I just picked up a KR-4400 today from someone giving it away and couldn’t confirm if it worked or not. Brought it home and hooked it up to the DBT and turned it on. Bulb didn’t turn on and after like 15-20 seconds, heard the protection relay click over.
However, I noticed that the lights were flickering and when I listened closely, it sounds like the power transformer is crackling and popping (dim bulb still not turned on).
Do any of you know what is causing this sound? Sometime the sound will go away and the lights stop flickering and receiver will operate normally. What’s weird is that even when the transformer and making sound and the light are flickering, the relay still clicks over.
Measuring the PT when making noise, the blue wires gives 3-5 volts,(7v when PT not making noise)
Failing transformer? Faulty component on one of the board that can cause this? Will recap/ replacing old transistors help?
