Kenwood kr-6050 receiver

Exchanging emails with the CL seller now re: this Kennie receiver.

It's a 'make an offer' ad. I am finding precisely zilch as a reference point on trying to make an offer. Obviously don't want to overpay but I don't want to lowball the guy either.

He says its in perfect cosmetic and operational condition. I've asked for pics.

Any thoughts on what would be a fair price?

I don't have much to offer other than I researched this and didn't come up with much either. I have seen that add for at least the last 3 months off and on. I am curious as well. Good luck!! If I can help with pickup or anything, let me know. I work close to the seller & live east of Middletown(closer to you?)

I don't know the value either but saw some images online. Looks like a nice receiver. You could always try the "buck a watt" price.?.

I just may do that, Ed, absent a better gauge. I'll be reporting back in any case.
 
Just spoke with seller and I am checking it out on Monday. We'll see.
 
my brother has the kr-7050, 80 watts per channel. the 6050 i think is 60 watts. these are fairly large units. a buck a watt is a good starting point.
 
Checked out the 6050 and had the seller fire it up. Sounded good in all modes, pretty beefy. All knobs and switches in place; cosmetically (although dirty) quite nice. After some discussion we settled on $75. Not what I would call exactly a score but I think the price is reasonable.

It needs a good clean-up and de-oxit bath for all the pots and switches. Once she's ready for show pics will be posted.
 
Sorry for the delay but had an issue with that oh so interesting power switch/speaker selector switch. Also, the unit was rather dirty inside and out. Cleaned it up, deoxit bath for pots and switches. Sought advice in Vintage Solid State and what I got was spot on. Opened up the switch and burnished the contacts with an emory board. Closed it up and it is very nice. Some polish for the wood veneer case, cleaned up that chrome. And there we are. Pics below.

No, I wouldn't exactly call this a score but I am quite pleased with this unit. It now sits in my family room system while my Sansui gets an overhaul.

Excellent tuner section, nice phono stage. I would describe the sound as 'full', not bright, not heavy. Like it a lot
 
Nice score, I set up one of these in my daughter's bedroom where it is driving a set of Allison 110's. Britney Spears and Katie Perry never sounded so good:thmbsp:
 
I have a kr 6050 and love it.. If you have the chance to get one do it!!! The switch is the issue easiest fix you can do.
 
I have a 6050. Love the sound. The only stinker about this receiver is the power switch being together with the speaker switch. I bypassed the switch using a small piece of wire across it.
 
Been there on both my 6050s. I didn't even bother unwiring the switches to fix them.

The sound in one was muddy (on several different speakers) until I recapped the A-7 board ()it happened in all input modes, so I started there). After that the sound is powerful and has plenty of low and midrange, but is not as bright as the Pioneers I have, even at full treble settings. Still a solid unit with lots of appeal.
