Hi Gang,
Well my Christmas present from EBay got here today. I had a $100 dollar budget and picked up a Kenwood KR6600, 60 watt/channel receiver. It went for $80 BIN plus $35 shipping, so I was within $15 dollars of my goal. I'm running those $49.99 Best Buy Insignia specials with it.
I was REALLY pleased, it was excellently packed, needed NO controls to be cleaned and works like a charm. Man, that thing is built tough with BIG heat sinks built into the chassis sides and back, weighs about 35 pounds and JUST fits into the stereo cabinet. I once had the KR 7600, 80 watts/channel, but it was too wide for this cabinet. My son-in-law has it now. I moved my Kenwood KA-6100 amp from the living room to my study and am using my Sony STR 6055 receiver as the tuner for it using the tape out connections on the Sony to the tuner in connections on the Kenwood. That system is using my AR4x speakers and the sound is better with the KA-6100, but the Little Sony did a nice job also. If I find I need the Sony STR 6055 elsewhere in my home, I have the Sony STJ-75 tuner avail for the Kenwood.
