Kenwood KR-9050 On C-List

Nice receiver, but they tend to command prices a lot less than that. If I was looking for one, I'd draw the line at about $850~$950.

I sold off all of my monster receivers except for the KR 9050. It's a really nice unit, and tends to fly under the radar.

Prices for them have been climbing, but that one seems to be a little bit beyond the high end for one of these. Who knows, that may look like a bargain someday.

I'm a little at a loss it said Easton NJ
Never heard of it. Looked at map it's Easton PA
If it were nearby I might see how low he'd go. It's not and I am trying to downsize.

Seems like a lot of money for something that has not been serviced beyond polishing the knobs and face plate.

It is a looker though and I am not trying to run it down.

I'm always amazed at the people who post things like "never been serviced or modified ...all original" with a big smile and pull their britches up...as if those things are actually a plus! These days this stuff is all getting very old (for a piece of electronic equipment) and while it's great to have one unmodified and definitely un-molested, such units should command less money than one that's had say a $5-700 restoration performed on it.

I definitely see the appeal when it comes to collector show cars that are babied on and off trailers once a month and treated as museum pieces...but your only going to sit there and LOOK at it, not drive it daily. That would require belts, hoses, radial tires instead of dry rotted bias plys, New plug wires rotor etc etc....and certainly a car won't blown up one day out of the blue like a receiver will if you don't replace aging tired parts and set things like bias and dc offset.

Sprry, I had to. All that aside, it's a gorgeous receiver..I have one myself in my collection and it is hands down the best sounding kenwood I've owned or worked on.

I've bought a few things from Ron. He's in Easton, Pa. The listing is in the NJ craigslist, though. He does come up with some nice stuff. He says he knows folks in NYC where he finds lots of his stuff. He does set his prices to the top of the market, but I agree with EW, I think he's overreaching on this one.

And as if they actually know. Even if they are honest, there's no telling how honest the person they bought them from were.
