Kenwood KR-9060

I have my eye on this Kenwood KR-9060 which is the European version of the KR-9600. It's listed in like new condition, but the good thing is that is very close to my location so I can see it and demo it first.

Are the aesthetics and the voltage switch the only difference between the 9060 and the 9600 ? Or is there any build quality and technical differences ?

How would you describe the sound characteristics of the 9060/9600 ?

same thing just the switch and I believe the transformer is different.
The issues would be the same as the 9600, if working good and not running hot
this is a good unit, The FM has good reception and the frequency response should
go up pretty high and good base. I've worked many of these 9600s and have a bunch of them around
in various states. 2 good ones too.
Good power also and replacement for the TA200 is being sold. Their is a tread with that info
in it,

The faceplate and the rear panel (KR-9060 model number painted) are the only unique parts as far as I can tell. Lots of KR-9600s had switchable voltage - all original wood case units and some metal case units got it.

KR-9600 was available in Europe. My understanding is that KR-9060 was an "Audio Club" unit only available on US military bases in Europe. Info is pretty sketchy.

Scarce in the US. Very pretty if in good shape. I think that's one in my avatar.

A 9060 recently sold on the bay for nearly 2500 - yikes.

Holy crap.....and yes you are right I think they were only available on US military bases in Europe....and they seem to be extremely rare. Now that you said that one sold for close to
2500.00 this is intriguing me even more....as I think I could get this one for under 1000.00........

He wound up selling it to someone else.....I think I was going to pass anyway
