Kenwood KR 9600 in RI

as a serious question, what effect would being NOS have on this thing...are not aged caps aged caps regardless of if they've been powered up or not?

does a tuner go out of alignment sitting in a box?

not trying to be a smartass, am legit wondering these things.

I don't have an answer but I was wondering about the caps too. I hadn't thought that the tuner could go out of alignment but I don't know. I suppose you could get the exterior, front and wood, in mint condition and there also wouldn't be any dust inside. I would think that even the exterior will depend on how and where it was stored: in a freezing cold place, a damp place, etc., could affect the condition even if it was in a box.

Different types of caps age differently. If I had a NOS 9600 I'd still replace all electrolytics. What do you do with original whitewalls on a 1971 T-top Stingray if you're going to drive it?

Tuner alignment has a lot to do with QC at the factory (but Pioneers don't waver as much as some others). The 9600 was late in the Silver Era, when QC was beginning to go downhill so don't expect it to be spot on out of the box.

Of course I'm always skeptical if it really is NOS.

I offered this guy 400 and our cat...he never even replied

I wonder who got it....I have an AK buddy that has one and it sounds really nice
