Kenwood KX-1030 Tape Deck - All concentric knobs turn as one easily but will not turn individually (right or left) without much effort

Hello,
I am refurbishing a KX-1030 tape deck and its all going well except that all 3 concentric knobs will turn fairly easily but would not turn either the right or left ring individually. I let it soak with a bit of DeoxIT which got them to at least turn individually, it take great force to move either one. So I put a drop or two of Liberty sewing machine oil and let that soak over night. They will turn individually but the force it takes is unreasonable. I understand that you most likely would not turn separately in general but I want to restore that capability if possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure why you seem to have multiple threads going on this??
I would apply some heat to the knobs. Probably hardened grease gluing the 2 knobs together?

My bad. First time post on this site and did not see the separate Kenwood thread! Yes definitely has hardened grease in between those two spindles. I think I will be looking to heat it up with a soldering iron. Another person mention removing the pots completely to clean up any oil or mess that may be inside. I did not use too much oil (drop or 2).

A soldering iron should work perfectly

Heat the control shaft and apply Tri-Flow while it's warm, and work it in. You might consider removing the control and soaking the shaft in Tri-Flow.
