kenwood ls-403a

Hello to all. I recently got a nice pair of kenwood ls-403a speakers. They are great but the woofers need re-foamed. I have seen here some people say leave the dust caps alone, which I would love to do considering they have the lovely kenwood logo in gold. Also would the kits from parts express be good enough or are there better kits? Any help would be appreciated.

hi decaturron,
that's really cool, you are in the same boat as I was when i got my LS-403A's, i refoamed mine with new exact fit foams from orange county speaker @ www.speakerrepair.com you need to give them a call and give them dimensions of the frame and cone, but they are familiar with them, so they know which ones they need. Take a look at my LS-403A's in the member's photo gallery. You can refoam them without removing the dust cap but it's a bit tricky if you are not familiar with how to do it. You need to make sure & use the "white" glue that doesn't set up right away so you have time to "feel" centering the voice coil. If you are nervous about doing them, I can guide you through step by step to ensure they are done without incidence. Just PM me when you have the time. http://www.audiokarma.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=5162&size=big&cat=&ppuser=28748
