Kenwood Model 600 List Price?

What was the suggested list price of the Model 600?

I know the price of the 600T was $650 in 1976 and using a CPI (Consumer Price Index) calculator that would make it over $2300 in today's money.

The Model 600 was made from 1973 - 1979. Does anyone have the price for those years so I can figure the price in today's dollars? Google doesn't know, that's why I'm asking.

My book says $749.00 in '76, dropping to $700 in '77, and then $550 in '78.

Thanks! So if you paid list in 1976 a 600T would cost you $2313 and a Model 600 would cost you $2665 in 2006 dollars.

That's interesting that the price was dropping in the late '70s, those were some serious inflationary years.

My Accuphase went from $800 to $1049 in the same time frame....

The decrease in prices from 73- 78 may have been a result of the "energy crisis" and the gas prices more than doubling from around 40 cents a gallon to almost a buck. As I remember, people were watching how they were spending their money and spending less on entertainment and luxury items. The record industry also sufferd and had to adjust prices to match their market and intice sales.

That makes sense. It's also possible that Kenwood dropped the list price, a price that no one ever paid, to get it more in line with the retail price paid at the store.
