Kenwood remote cable help

Lost in the Music...
Help! I have an 89s era Kenwood receiver (KR-V6020)and tape deck that use a 1/8" cable to connect the tape deck on other units to the receiver to use the receiver remote. I have lost my manuals (I am the original owner) and the correct cables. Can anyone tell me what cable or connector is needed and any tips for making it all work again?

I have the KC-207 Stereo Control Amplifier. With matching cassette deck, cd, etc
I'm positive the "system control" cables are just standard 1/8 'stereo' plugs and cables.

Here's a diagram from the manual. I hope this is similar enough to get you going. :)

I'm looking at the KR-V6020 manual. It has a similar diagram as Bumperboys.
It only lists the cable in the accesories as a system control cord. Wether it's a stereo or mono cable will hopefully be the only toss up. I can't see them over engineering somethis as simple as this. I've never tried hooking up any other Kenwood devices to mine. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.
 
Awesome I will check that out - I did at one time have it all working with the original CD player tape deck and thsi receiver.

I bought mine with a DP-1520 CDP. It's been skipping and having problems reading discs. I also need to go back into the 6020 and tighten up the nut for the motorized volume pot. That damned thing seems to work itself loose on a year or so. Have you noticed that with yours? :scratch2:
 
PIONEER uses the same concept for their SR remote system. any cable with stereo or mono miniphones on either end will do. in fact, i think just about every japanese manufacturer's 12v trigger based system remote control system was sourced from the same OEM. case in point? i once hooked the REMOTE jack of my mid-80s SONY discman to the SR in on my PIONEER VSX-D1S. the PIONEER amp was receiving the SONY CDP remote codes and successfully relaying them to the discman. in sum, you can most likely pull this off with many units from different makes...
 
Hooked the 6020 up with my Kenwood CT-203 cassette deck, no dice - the remote doesn't work. I had originally bought a different tape deck with this unit and a CD player - no idea what model numbers - and everything worked with the remote.

I've had no issue with the motorized remote, but to be fair this receiver really hasn't been used that heavily.
