Kenwood speakers

I recently got a set of speakers that I believe may be a kenwood lsk-200. I am having a lot of trouble finding a resource for kenwood speakers. There is no identification of the speaker model besides a kenwood logo. There are 2 speakers and the cabinet has the dimensions of 17.5" x 11.75" x 8". The larger speaker has an approximate diameter of 6" and the smaller one is approximately 1.5" in diameter. I know that they were purchased in 1978 and the only reason I believe they are this model is from a picture on an ebay sale. Does anyone know where I can find more information about these speakers and if they are indeed this model are they any good? Thanks for any help.

What does the LSK stand for? I've read that Kenwood had a higher end speaker line back then called Trio?

Just some cut and paste infor about the companies history.

The company first started in 1946 as the Kasuga Radio Co. Ltd. In Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. In 1960 the firm was renamed "Trio Corporation". 1963 saw the foundation of Kenwood USA, the first overseas office of Trio, in Los Angeles, California, USA. In the early 1960s, The LaFayette Radio Company rebranded and sold Trio's products, unfortunately focusing on the doomed 23-channel CB radio. 1960 (MCMLX) was a leap year starting on Friday (the link is to a full 1960 calendar). ... Regardless of who made them, these are obviously minimum bottom of the line speakers. It is unlikely that it would be worth the cost and effort to repair them, except as a learning experience. At least verify that the voice coils are intact before you expend ANY effort on them. If not, toss 'em.

I'd like to buy new speakers but I am sort of on a college budget right now. So if I can get them to sound okay, they will have to make due for a while. I really don't know too much about speakers or how determine if the voice coils are intact. Are there any write-ups for checking this? If they are okay, would re-foaming and cleaning the connections be all I really need to do? Thanks for the help.

Refoam 'em. They probably wont' sound too bad. I recognize that tweeter as being on some JBL models.

I own some awesome vintage L series Kennies and have owned some cheap dreck-ish 80's Kennies...made 5 or 6 years after yours...even those sounded ok - and I've heard worse from supposedly better brands.

Renewing an old thread.

I just got some LSK-200D speakers with my Sansui R-410 receiver. They sound pretty good to me. The foam surrounds are in good shape.

Underneth the grill is a label with

Kenwood LSK-200D
TRIO-KENWOOD Corporation. MADE IN JAPAN
MAXIMUM INPUT POWER 75 W
IMPEDANCE 8 OHMS

I measured the following.

woofer 7.5 inch diameter
tweeter, 2-3/8 inch diameter
box enclosure: 11 x 20 x 7.5 inches W x H x D
size with grills: 11 x 20 x 8-5/8 inches W x H x D
