Kenwood Super Eleven "Speaker Selector"

Tinyelvis

Hello all,
I have some issues with the Kenwood Super Eleven "Speaker Selector."

I move the knob all over the place and I catch a good position all is happy. It eventually becomes "static" sounding. I have fully De-Ox'd the puppy. With nothing the better.
I am a NooB. So, the switch swap is going to be really tough.

There is a parts unit, that I have pulled that section out to see what could have gone wrong. The switch is difficult to access, and the DeOx was tuff.

The pictures are of the Kenwood Super Eleven "Speaker Selector Knob"
&
The parts unit Nudie shot of the switch.

I'm looking for advice on how to proceed.

Any help is greatly appreciated by TinyE

The photo is of the dubbing selector, not the speaker selector. Where did you spray the DeOxit? There are several contacts in the long metal part of that switch that slide when the switch is turned. Spraying it where the plastic gear is will do no good. You have to get it inside where the contacts are.
Can't you just swap the entire board or does the parts unit board have other issues?

Just spray in dexoit at the very end of the metal enclosure there, on top of the orange board, but make sure that the knob is in a position where the inner white plastic slider is closest to the faceplate. Does that make any sense?

Thanks! Makes sense. The very last thing I want to do is swap the board. A LOT of other 'things' on that board. I'll try and get up in the sliding switch with some DeOx.

again,

Thanks fellas

Sorry, I'm a bit unclear of this fellas actual function. I think it selects relationship of all the speakers. Might have something to do with the reverb portion also

I've had to drill a small hole, occasionally, to acess the sliders. Another tip is to change the angle of the switch you're trying to clean so the solution gravitates to all parts of the mechanism.

Well, I got up in there with some DeOx (with sliders moving back and forth).

NOW,
it seems that the B speakers are forcing some kind of speaker protection relay to go in and out. The A chn works/sounds fine. I think I'll just use A for the night and see what tomorrow brings.

Thanks again for all the help

I was able to get the spray straw ALL around and up into the mechanism

Did you leave plenty of time for it to dry?
When I use a lot on the sliders I wait overnight.
