Kenwood TK-50 RCA jacks

I have a Kenwood TK-50 with a broken RCA jack. The Rca jacks in the reciever are designed so that the center contact touches the terminal for the outer sleeve. Is it necessary to replace the jack with the same type if I can't manage to fix the original?

I forgot to say the two terminal touch when there is no plug inserted. I'm curious why this is as well.

Nevermind, I understand how it's set up now, I just hope i can get it back in place without it breaking.
