Kenwoods

I help out at a local Christian Bennefit shop which is in our church group. Today a pair of vintage Kenwoods showed up.

Kenwood KR-5600
Kenwood KD-2055 Turntable (Heavy brute this one)

Nothing on Kenwood web for info. But this site has got it all.

These need a good external cleaning and I'll test them out. They are supposed to be working but soon will see. Anyone have tech and spec info on the 5600 as for output and Freq response.

Thanks ----------------- DCMer1950

2055 is a nice belt-drive semi-auto table. I have the full-auto version, KD-3055, and love it.

The receiver works, although the controls need a good spraying to clean up the scratchiness . The turntable needs a belt. I put a rubber band on it and run . It was wobbly in that the speed fluctuated but it was testable at least.

The volume was nill. you could hear it but no cigar. The tone arm was bouncing like it was spring loaded. may not be worth the time as it will go back to the thrift shop and probably get tossed unless someone out there is interested in the purchase of it at a good price.

What kind of input are you plugging it into? You do know you need to plug it into phono input, right?

The tonearm is probably bouncing because it hasn't been balanced and the tracking force not set. Refer to the manual.

That turntable is too good to give up on!

Oh, and please don't toss it. Put a tag on it saying it needs work, sold as is. Sell it for a dollar or something. I find it sad to think about the number tables that have been tossed by thrifts, just because they need a belt or a little TLC.

Yes I agree to salvage if possible. Is there a market for such an animal other than us older guys who still believe in the smooth sound from a good quality vinyl.Even the receiver can be revitalized with alot of cleaning. I just do not have the room anymore for more receivers,(from my wife's point of view).
Oh yes I did have it in the phono input. Maybe a new cartridge and all RCA jacks on receiver cleaned to bare metal.Pure clean connection is vital in the low level signals from tables and other equipment. Both receiver and TTable could take about 10 hours cleaning, cosmetic and electrical. I'll try to post a pic if I get a chance. Between the Thrift shop and the 32 channel Mackie at church off and on keeps me occupied. And then they want to go Video too ,in the near future.
