I need input
I saw a pair of these pop up on the local CL site and jumped on them. I have been looking for a pair of Klipsch. Was not sure what I was going to end up with though. The price was right and the sound is wide open. wow. Just an iphone into an Dynaco ST70 and I'm lovin it.

While doing some research on these I found some people talking about tweeter diaphragm. I will have to look into that some more to see what's up with that.

What about the recap? Is there an upgrade for that or just replace with like values?

Not that I'm looking to upgrade today. But it's nice to know my options and ponder them.

Caps can be picked up at Parts Express. Use the same values. The Dayton brand are just fine. The diaphragms are $60.00 a pair from Bob Crites. Bentpencil is right as well, but I can't leave things stock! Just have to tinker. Enjoy them either way.

Mikeski, your post and a few others on KG4's made the decision for me and today I got a pair off Kijiji. My first set of Klipsch.

These are in fairly good shape, few scratches, nothing major. Walnut finish. They will look awesome with an oil application.

They are destined for a second system downstairs when that finally happens. I was wanting to try Klipsch for their efficiency and reported affinity for being driven by tubes.

I have them in my upstairs system and am quite pleasantly surprised by the sound quality. I really didn't know what to expect.

So thanks for your post !

Add yet another set of KG4's coming into the posession of an AK'er over the weekend. I put an update about it on the "KG4 vs. KLF10" thread. I know what you mean, Mikeski - I'm lovin' `em too.

Ben

I gave 50.00 for this set of KG4'S and striped the black paint from them and they look beautiful now and sound great. This is the best speaker deal I have ever made.

Go for the updated parts!
Once you hear them updated, there is no turning back :thmbsp:

I would like to spiff up the cabinets on these things. I'm not sure what the black line is. I think it's stain. Ideas??

mikeski...are you saying you wonder what the black finish is on your kg4s???...should be black paint...and you should have oak veneer underneath...Klipsch would paint the not so perfect oak (possibly other veneers as well?) with black paint...should be relatively easy to remove with the proper stripper...

Hi Bill, the black line I am referring to is near the bottom of the cabinet just under the screen. I would call it an accent stripe across the front.

ahhh...I believe that Klipsch has recommended Krylon or Rust-O-Leum paint for replacing the black or touch ups...there may be something on this in the memory banks either here or at Klipsch Forum as mine are fuzzy on this...good luck...
