KG3 and KG4

I have some modified KG4s. One mod is the Crites' titanium diaphragms. Worth every penny and then some!

The second mod was by accident. I bought my KG4s used and one of the four k-8-ks was blown. While I waited to find one on craigslist or ebay I put in a Pioneer B20FU20-51 full range (top woofer). It sounded great to the ear, so much so I took out the good top k-8-k in the other box and replaced it with another B20FU20-51. :D

I finally got a replacement K-8-K but did not like the sound better to my ear when all four stock k-8-ks were running. So I put the two B20FU20-51 back in.

I'm sure a speaker computer program would say :thumbsdn: noway it should work. But I like them :music:

I have used an 80w Realistic STA-2080 receiver, a fisher 500c and a plastic T-Amp with my KG4s. The KG4s were never the weakest link. I love them.

I've run my fortes, the heresy's and the kg 4's with a pioneer sx 780. Klipsch are efficient. Not saying that more power is not better, but I don't think you will be disappointed running the KG4's with your 40 wpc amp. Just my opinion. Right now I'm running the heresys and the KG4's with 100 and 75 wpc recievers respectively. The fortes and 5.2's are sitting idle. Yes bigger power is nice, but I truly believe you'll like the 4's.

All good choices depending how much room you have....KG2 & 3s...less room than Hersheys & Fortes....

Zombie thread, but reading through the comments for needing X amount of watts to make them sound good has me wondering how loud folks are listing to music! I have KG4.2s connected to either a 4 WPC SEUL, 35 WPC EL34 PP or 60 WPC KT88 PP amp. In my room I am comfortable, volume wise with either amp running 1 or 2 WPC! Obviously the bigger amps can really crank and have plenty of clean headroom, but even the 4 WPC SE will exceed my comfort level. These are efficient speakers.
