KG4 vs. Forte

I have a set of Heresy II.

I'm interested in adding Fortes to the roster someday.

I stumbled on a pair of mint KG4 at a good price; should I hold off until I find my Fortes?

Can anyone describe the audible differences between the Fortes and the KG4?

If the kg4s are a good price, get them if you can afford them but they will not be the speaker the Forte'/Forte' II are...I have Heresys and Quartets (slightly smaller Forte' IIs :D) and I think they sound just like my Heresys with more bass...search ended...the kg4s are good in their own right (that's why you might want them especially if the price is right) but just not the level of the Forte'/Forte' II/Quartet

I have both. The Forte's have more presence and detail especially in a very large room with high ceilings.

I really like my kG4's especially with tube amps.

The Forte is universally regarded as being a step up from the KG4. Going from Heresys to KG4's may actually be a step down due to the step down from 3-way to 2-way and a downgrade in the actual driver quality.

And again, the Fortes won't just put the music in the room as loud as you want, they'll literally wrap the sound around you. They have excellent imaging in the right setup and the right room. Also, the Forte bass is out of this world. They'll go way louder and deeper than either the KG4 or the Heresy, no question whatsoever.

I have KG-4's running on my tube gear, and I've heard Heresy's. I'd take the KG-4's.

Haven't heard Forte's, but my understanding is that they would be a step up from the KG-4's.

Fwiw.

Truly, I am not trying to hijack this thread, but I have no experience with Klipsch, other than a friend's Heresy's that sounded fantastic, but that was years ago.

I have recently acquired a pair of KP 301-B-BR speakers. Where do they fit in to the heirarchy of Klipsch products?

Seconded. I think they sound better with a wider variety of music than the Heresy. To each his own, though.

Never heard the Forte', but would love to stumble upon a pair.

Me, too!

I keep checking the local GW, but no luck yet.

Thanks to all who responded. At the very end of last week, I walked into a pair of $400 oiled oak Forte IIs from 1993 that are in great shape. They're now happily plugged into my system awaiting Bob Crites titanium tweeter diaphragms. (I was impressed with that upgrade to my Heresys, so decided to repeat.)

I prefer the KG4s to the Forte IIs. Go for it. Especially since the Forte IIs prices have gotten silly.

If you don't like them, I'll take them off your hands if I can.

For that matter, if you ever want to get rid of the Heresy's....
