KG4's with Sansui B-2102/C-2102

Recently picked up a pair of KG4's and finally got around to listening to them. I tried them out with a Yamaha CR-600 receiver first and was not impressed. Tried them with a couple more receivers with the same result. Was feeling like I had perhaps made a mistake buying them and then I hooked them up to my Sansui B-2102/C-2102 combo. I could not have been more surprised. The sound was amazing. It was like I was listening to a different set of speakers. The bass was tight and punchy. Crystal clear highs with a very ambient and airy sound. Kid Charlemagne never sounded better in my home. I have the KG4's on 18 inch stands in the corners of the 12x14 den I use as my computer room and they're gonna stay there for a while. I have KG4.2's and KG3's also and I don't think they are as much of a "total package" as the KG4's.

I think the KG4s sound better on the floor, not on stands. You have to place them proper distances from walls or they can be muddy.

If you use a good stand or riser there should me no difference in terms of coupling to the floor. The huge advantage is getting the horn up to ear level when seated and that will make all the difference. Congrats on finding a winning combo. Best regards Moray James.

I really enjoyed my KG4 with my Sansui 8080db, and model Seven. That Seven really cranks it out! I think there's a nice synergy with many Sansuis and the KG4

Just got a pair. Looking forward to comparing them with my B&W DM6 sealed woofer 3-ways and my DCM Time Windows.

My KG4's LOVE corner placement, and that was plenty of reinforcement to work on short stands.

As I discovered after a room rearrange. These speakers work really well as mains for home theatre! :thmbsp:

I have my Kg4s on 8" tall hardwood stands I made from some material designed as stair treads purchased from Home Depot. The stock measures just deep enough to support the entire depth of the speaker and is about an inch thick.
