Kia/Hyundai Insurance???

Before you buy a used Kia or Hyundai, check with your insurance company. Some are refusing to write new policies due to ease of theft of some models (2015 - 2019).

I was reading about how many of them are being stolen. More than any other car in some metropolitan areas.
I feel for the owners, since they are typically people who don’t have a ton of money.

@grillebilly i think that stigma is long gone. Both brands have an avg price of car north of 35,000. And hyundai has a genesis line a la Lexus with G90 costing close to 6 figures!

The Kia stigma is even gone thanks to Hyundai buying them and investing in the brand.

My kid has a Hyundai she paid 17k for, it’s really not so bad. I think it’s a 2015 Elantra.
I just searched cheapest new cars and 6 out of the top 10 with an automatic transmission were Hyundai or Kia. Maybe the perception is gone but they still make cheap cars.

This is the reason I always check with my insurance company (price quotes) prior to any new or used car purchase. The results are often surprising when comparing different brands, makes & models.
