I just noticed that the guy that bought my Hadley amp thru the Bay, sold it with a matching preamp...I would have bought the pre if i had known.

Anyway, I noticed that the screename didnt match my buyer..so I look and the feedback of my buyer is private (which I dont think it was when he bought the amp)...I just read that if you keep your feedback secret, you cannot sell any items.

SO the dude has 2 ebay id's...I wonder whats the use for that...interesting the things people do on ebay.

More likely so he can flip stuff anonymously. Or maybe so he can keep his purchase records separate from sales. For collectibles this seems to be the norm for a large number of big sellers. They have a different name for their buying account.

It makes tracking purchases (and purchase prices) harder. If a big seller used the same ebay account to make purchases I can easily track that. When I was trying to find rare collectible items I could always search the bids of certain sellers and let them do all the research for me. I also knew if I was going up against a reseller (who will usually only pay wholesale) or a hard core collector (who, like me, is more willing to pay retail).

If they are using a different buying account it is more difficult to connect the two. Eventually I can track big "buyer-only" accounts who have similar purchase tendencies to me. But if they get something cheap on the buying account I can't use that info to try and get a better price from them on the selling account, since I can't make the connection.
