KLF-20 Cabinets with a gouge

Recently acquired my first set of Klipsch, a pair of KLF-20's. Has a half dollar size gouge in the side that I feel compelled to remedy as overall the cabinets needed some love. What is the forum's feeling on this? Should I patch, sand and veneer or just vinyl wrap? I'm decent at woodworking, just want to hear what you all think. Thanks, happy to finally feel like I'm a part of this community.
