KLH 20 turntable receiver refurb with iec power cord and socket

Recently I picked up a KLH 20 turntable/receiver unit without a power cord, and contemplated the often suggested modification to an iec mickey mouse power cord. This "precision adjustment" started to seem a little sketchy when it came to drilling out the power cord pin receptors--so instead i sourced an iec socket from Mouser--apart from having to drill out rivets it was an easy swap. (the thumb screws were the only thing i could find on hand at the local hardware store--apparently they don't stock anything smaller than a #6.

Also posted a photo of the schematic diagram from the bottom--let me know if anyone could use a scan of this--I seemed to have a slightly different series of capacitors in this unit than some of the other posts. I recapped everything except the tuner section.

cleaned and re-lubed everything i could access in the garrard changer.

At some point the awesome little tuning meter came unglued--so I disassembled it and re-glued the gauge backdrop-- it had slipped in front of the needle.

The tuning bulb was burnt and dim--and I reached out to RainCity for advice on what bulb to use to replace it. The tuning meter takes an NE2 neon bulb. I used one with a clear bulb and it looks great.

Very nice! I've got a super clean one with a bad hum set aside that I'm going to restore when I get a few other projects out of the way. It definitely has a bad main filter cap but I'm going to replace all of the caps and restore the Garrard 3000 changer while I'm at it. Always loved these units, used to have one with the fancy wood and plexi cover but I foolishly chucked it when the amp died years ago. Yours must be an early model since it still has the removable cord, my old one was from 1968 and it had the cord permanently attached. I had to do the same thing to the tuning meter decal too, what a PITA!
