I'm trying to get my dad's KLH 20 up and running again. It works but all the controls are very scratchy. I was planning on trying to deoxit it myself. I was wondering if I could simply remove the bottom wood to gain access to the tone controls. Second, I'm concerned that there is something more serious going on with the base tone control. Attempting to move the knob results in a very loud crackle/popping noise and I can see the woofer jumping even with the grills on. Is this just corrosion or is DC voltage somehow getting through when I move the knob. If I leave the tone controls alone it actually sounds pretty good. Lastly, is there anyone in the Los Angeles area willing to work on it. I called Marconi radio and they don't want to. Does anyone know a private party or a shop that would work on it?
