KLH 23 tweeter trouble shooting - What's next? Updated Strikeout

So, I have a dead tweeter. No noise at all coming from it. I swapped the known good tweeter into the speaker tonight with the bad tweeter and it played fine. These can't be fixed can they? Is the only step left, locating a similar second hand one?

I've done the research and know which KLH tweeters to be on the lookout for if that's the route I have to take.

Thanks!

The tweeter's lead-in wire under the metal grill may have corroded through and broken in which case it's repairable. Read here, it happens fairly often.

I suggest a recap as well if you haven't already done so.

Tweeters are on fleabay all the time for these.

First see if your dead one is repairable.

Swing and a miss. Doesn't seem to be any noticeable problems here. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

I've got an extra tweeter from a KLH Model Five you can have. Supposedly 23's and 5's have the same woofers and tweeters. Mine has a black grill though.

Here are pics. The back picture makes it look like the magnet is bigger than it is. Magnet is same size as my 23 tweets(3 inches).

Guess I will be ripping apart my Five tweeter, also. Just when I thought I had all the issues of the Fives ironed out except refinishing the cabinets and grill cloth.. Feels like I take 2 steps forward and 1 back.
