KLH 5 Orientation

I have a pair or KLH 5's and am moving them to a new location. In order to place them far enough apart to get good stereo separation I would new to put them on their sides. I don't think I've ever seen them in that configuration which leads me to believe it's not such a good isea. Anyone have any thoughts?

Your room acoustics should determine speaker placement in relation to your "Listening Chair". Once you find your particular "Sweet-Spot", the music will, of course, "Come Alive". If it is possible, try experimenting with different configurations until you get it to your liking. Personally, I don't think that putting them on their sides would hurt the sound. Worth a try, in any case. You can always set them back upright again if the sound doesn't work for your situation. Have fun!
 
Usually when setting speakers on their sides it's recommended to put the tweeters on the outside for wider dispersion. Bass it's not as important.
 
I've used them on their sides and it's not a problem. Try them both with tweets outside and in for best sound. Your room will help you decide what you like best.
 
I have always though that the mids in the Fives should be vertical the side by side spreads the midrange out of time to the ear. I can not debate Henry's design expertise but some of it was in cost effectiveness. So I think Fives sitting on their sides may be a good thing.
 
I've used them on their sides, it's not an issue AFAIC. They sound wonderful no matter how you place them!

How high do people typically place them when they are on their sides? I'm assuming that placement would be higher then when they are vertical?
 
Since I swap them in and out of rotation with my Cornwall's, I've been placing them on top of the Cornies vertically and that seems to work ok.
