KLH 5

IMG_20170125_194252.jpg I bought KLH 5 speakers. One does not have KLH mid drivers. Question: Which KLH speakers share the same mid driver with the model 5? They are 4-1/2" square with square magnets. I do not see any model numbers on driver. If they come from another KLH and look the same, are they compatable for replacements in the 5? For instance, model 15 mids look similar.

Edit: I found replacement mids.

Yes 15, 14, 19, all the same. I have found KLH Mids that were way out of spec in ohms but if matched can sound good
crossover changes will improve things. I think the ones I have found are rear you should check.

The KLH Model Twelve shares all the same drivers as Five. Other KLH models may have mid range drivers, but I would proceed with caution if your a stickler for details.

Thanks to all who shed some light on my question. Which KLH speakers mid drivers are good replacements in model 5's.
With info I now have. I think the safest replacement is model 12 or 5 mids. Other model mids may look the same, but I am less sure that they are same.

Some time has passed.
"I found correct mids." Thanks to all for info.

I bought caps but have not installed. Been sitting unassembled. I have a basement rebuild after flood. So, put Fives together before parts get lost. Woofers, dust caps and mids were redoped.

First I have heard them with correct mids. My ADS L880's are more detailed. But the Fives have nice bass. When I replace caps, may improve that. But for 60 Years old, very nice.
My temporary upstairs listening room. Diana Krall, Not too loud to bother management.

Need to search for particle board repair ideas for at woofer wood screw holes area. Epoxy with sawdust? Woofer a little off center and 2 screws break into inside cavity. Could rotate slightly around axis. But screws have to clear internal mids chamber.

Ask me how I know this!

Cheers,

I will be recapping when I have time. Then I think steam dents, sand and Watco Natural Oil. They are worth restoring.
