KLH 6 - 3 Wire Crossover Cap?

turnitup

No, the stereo won’t break the crystal...Oh CRAP!
Just bought a sweet little pair of vintage KLH 6's. Need to reseal the woofer surrounds and dust caps, and replace the caps.

Ran into an interesting crossover cap that I need some advice on. It's a 2uf cap with one wire going in, and 2 wires going out. It's marked 2+2uf. Can I replace it with 2 separate, 2uf non-polarized Dayton caps, or do I need to do something different? I've never run into a 3 wire crossover cap before...

You are correct, that is a double cap. You can replace it with two 2 uF caps. You just need to connect one end of each cap to the other to form the common connection.

Thanks RxDx and RTally. I was thinking the same, but wanted to check with the pros before moving forward. I really appreciate your expertise and your time in replying!

Looking forward to sealing these up, recapping, and enjoying! Thanks again.

My KLH Model 17s had the Temple 2+2 caps in them too. Re-doping the woofers and replacing the Temple caps with Daytons they sound great. I have a pair of 6s to work on this winter will see how much better they are.
