Klh model 23 $ ??????

Very hard to say, they're all over the place. I bought my first set on fleabay for $75 and local pickup (they were in very good to excellent condition). I bought my second pair which were also in very good condition for $10 on the local CL. They still seem to fly under the radar but they are starting to catch on (probably because of AK). When I sell them I usually ask $100 with new caps and everything properly tightened up.

in the DC area they go for $100ish or less. i bought mine for $125; very clean except one missing badge. seen ones that needed refoaming for $75.

nice speaks and only 1 cap to change for the recap.

Yeah, this is a tough one. I got mine off of FreeCycle for nothing. They are, arguably, the best 2-way vintage KLH. I traded mine for a beautiful pair of Rectilinear IIIs which are also all over the place price-wise. With KLH 17s going for (around here) $40-$60 and 6s for upwards of double that, I'd say that $75-$100 for a really nice pair wouldn't be out of line. I preferred the 23s to my 6s sound-wise, and the 23s mop the floor with the 6s as far as looks goes (IMHO).

No foam on the Twenty-Three unless someone bastardized them. Once in a blue moon you'll see a Model Six that has foam surrounds and a vinyl clad cabinet from the very end of production, but never a Twenty-Three.

interesting. saw some on CL that looked like the surrounds were coming apart. either the cloth was ripped or basterdized as you say.

I bought two pairs for about 25-30 dollars, a few years back (3-4) - when they were under the radar. I cleaned up the cabinets (they were beautiful) and put them into rotation, they were competing for attention against Large Advents, Model 23 won hands down. I listened to them for a couple of years. when It was time to move on I sold them for 125-ish dollars. This about 18 months ago. Funny thing, the buyer of the second pair overpaid by 10 dollars. I chased him down the drive trying to give it back. He would not take it. So i guess I under priced them. The cabinets are magnificent and they do sound great. Deals can be found on these speakers.

KLH is the best value for the money. It seems that anything else of the classic era are more expensive on eBay, while KLH are dirt cheap.

For instance, KLH model Five arguably play at least as well as direct competitor AR3a (probably better) and look much better too. However, one can buy 5 pairs of KLH model Five for the price of one pair of AR3a. Go figure.

I was at a Habitat for Humanity with my girlfriend when I saw a nice pair of 23s come through the door. I don't look for gear in thrifts anymore, but they found their way into my car. I was not even sure where they sat in the pecking order, but I knew they were an older KLH speaker, so I took the chance.

It was great to get back home and find out on AK that these were one of the better KLH speakers. Checking the auction site often for a replacement tweeter, I saw that these sold anywhere from $50-$200 a pair.
