KLH Model 6 vs New Large Advent (NLA)?

In the process of restoring a pair of Model 6’s, and wondering how they compare with the NLA’s. I had a pair of OLA’s, but the mid/upper ends of my newly-recapped 6’s don’t sound like what I remember the OLA’s sounded like (but then, those didn’t get a recap). A single NLA speaker I used as a woofer donor for an OLA sounded very dynamic, but I never got to hear an actual NLA pair.

The woofers on my 6’s are waiting for a reseal, and after I’ll try really know how these should sound. I’m guessing the bass might not be as deep as the NLA, but curious how the overall sound matches up.

I just finished up restoring a pair of model 6's including recaps on the crossovers and am waiting on the dope to reseal the woofers as the final step . Even without the cloth surrounds resealed, they compare very closely with my OLA's. I think the bass is comparable and I feel like the KLH's are maybe just a bit less power hungry. Both the OLA's and KLH's sound better the more power you give them. Two of my favorite sounding set in my collection.

I’d give the nod to advents over 6. 23’s would be a better matchup.

I have OLA fully restored, first gen KLH 6 (which I recapped through the back!!), and KLH 23 which have been recapped and surrounds doped. I can’t bring myself to cut the grill fabric on my KLH 6’s because they are pristine and don’t come off. Bass is a bit thin re the OLA and 23. The KLH 23 is on a whole other level relative to the OLA. The bass and mids are ridiculous good on the 23’s. Bass on the 23’s is better than my more modern Advent 5012’s. The mids and highs are better on the 5012’s. I would really like to hear my KLH 6’s with proper dopped surrounds. One day I’ll cut the fabric. But for now they look off the shelf brand new!

I have owned the Original large Advent, The New large Advent and the KLH 6. All 3 were fully restored and recapped. The two Advents are long gone but the KLH 6's remain.

@Jimesis too bad you don’t own a set of 23’s which would likely oust those 6’s.

I love my KLH 6s. Restored a pair of NLAs for a friend a few years back. They sounded nice and if they were the only speakers I had, I wouldn't complain. My friends brother liked his NLAs so he found a pair of OLAs. I restored them too, very similar to the NLAs but I thought the bass was a little better on the OLAs. I think I'm just used to the sound of my 6s
