I'll be ordering more sealant soon. Here's what's going on. I bought some KLH 6's last summer. These are the ones with the epoxied woofers. The prior owner had removed the grills in order to replace the tweeters. I applied the surround sealant and then made some grills for them and found nice grill cloth.
Afterwards I proceeded to store them in the attic until I was ready to do the nasty recap on them. When I went up to the attic to bring them down to do the recap one of the grills had come loose and bugs had gotten in on the surrounds and had died a sticky death! I've done the best I can to remove the gore and sealant with turpentine but there's still work to be done to get the last vestiges of the bugs and sealant off before reaplying new sealant. Any suggestions???"
The tweets had gone dead so the prior owner had to cut out the old epoxied in tweeters and resized the opening for the tweeters that KLH sent him back in 1980. He replaced the 8uf but left the dual 2's in the tub of epoxy. All the old oil caps are gone..the recap is done and I went ahead and replaced the 8uf's again. And they sound great. I'm just being "bugged" a little no pun intended to get the surrounds back to being "right".
