KLH sx-9 Goodwill find...twelve bucks total. Huge but not impressive.

It needs one woofer replaced, so I'd likely replace both. Seeking any info that would be useful in a decision as to how much time and money to put into repairing them. Woofers are 15", soft midranges 3.5" and 1" tweeter. There is very little insulation/packing/whatever you call it in the speakers, which I find surprising. also the crossovers and for that matter the wires look puny. If anyone has listened to a functional pair of these behemoths your wisdom would be well-received.

These were mass-market speakers, no relation to the KLH of old. In the 1990s and 2000s you could find KLH-labelled speakers like this at the various warehouse clubs.

How is the woofer damaged? Might be repairable.

Far as I can tell, the covering on the center has been pushed in, the wires were all off the drivers and the woofer hanging out, so I'm not really sure there is any significant damage...

Try it first, take some pictures and post them here if you're not sure. Probably not worth investing in a new set of drivers for them.

I recently picked up the KLH SX-9 speakers for $50 and I am really impressed! All the general consensus on these types of speakers are they are horrible garbage and I am here to say I don’t agree at all! I have had DCM timeframes, TIMEWINDOWS, klipsch heresy’s, tannoy little gold monitors, Altec 604’s etc…. And I think these hold their own against most of those. Does anyone else have any thoughts on these?
