KLH version 17 setup?

Apologies if this is already covered in the forum— I’m new here!

I inherited some vintage speakers: KLH Model Seventeen Acoustic Suspension Loudspeaker System. I’d like to test them out but I’m a bit of a noob and can’t figure out how to hook them up! I understand there’s wires that would wrap around the metal on the back of the speaker, but the wires are very short so I’m not understanding where I’m supposed to place the speakers if the wires are so small!

just unscrew them, wrap the wire and tighten back down on the wire. OR... Terminate the wires and then clamp them with those bonding posts...

oh, wait, are you talking about the speaker wire being to short? If so you will have to go get some new ones.

Apologies if you know this already, but always turn the amp/receiver off before changing connections, including speaker wires. Check there is no short anywhere (wires touching each other) before turning it back on - shorts are a common reason for blown fuses and broken amps but easily avoided by being careful.

If they seem to be missing the "Highs", the crossovers will need to have the capacitors replaced. The liklihood of this is almost certain on the KLH's. Also, the woofers have cloth surrounds that will need to be re-sealed to work properly. With the grilles removed, push the woofers in and then let them return. If they return immediately, they need to be resealed (again, almost a certainty). It's really simple to do. You can buy the sealant on Ebay (or contact AK member RoyC- he makes it) and just paint it on with a small brush. Do a search for KLH on here and you will be amazed at how many hits you'll get. A little bit of refresh and these will sound really good. I have three pairs of the Seventeens with one pair on the bench waiting to be reassembled. They are worth the trouble.

If the wiring it too short, you can always purchase new speaker wire which is easily accessible at places like Home Depot, Lowes etc as to the speaker wires are to small is that a continuation of they're too short?
