Klipsch are trash?!?

The strangest Craigslist rant I've seen in quite a while.

http://stlouis.craigslist.org/ele/2105365953.html

For posterity:
KLIPSCH SPEAKERS ARE TRASH

Sure the K-Horns are OK - BUT? Almost every model is colored and unnatural and that includes K-Horns to a degree

KG models are like a box of generic cornflakes - Heresy's flat suck, Forte's are crappy as hell, Cornwalls have woefully inadequate mids and highs, La Scala's ? Give me a break - way over priced gimmicks with inferior horns and offset bass response......

Put 2 new rolls of toilet paper down near a toilet, wrapped and sealed - Put a known major name brand on one and a black and white generic label on the other - I guarantee the major brand will go first - that's the concept of Klipsch, it's a known major brand therefore it must be better based on the label only.

The only major brand label worse then Klipsch is Bose

You are a total idiot if you believe the horns Klipsch has used are of quality

They should call Klipsch Speakers the Kazoo's of speakers....... KG models? Garbage Disposal Speakers. Anyone who thinks Klipsch are great? ...????? ready for the truth? DEAF!

Someone needs to start taking their meds.

It's pretty funny, though. And I like my KG2 speakers. However, I'm deaf. And they sound like a garbage disposal. Or something.

You too? :music:

I guess I kinda like garbage disposals, then.

I guess to each their own. Geez, the guy should just go suck a lemon. At least he'd get some Vitamin C.

We have our fair share of wackos here, from the white van speaker listers, the flippers who want you to pay them to pick up vintage Altec VOTT speakers because they just don't sell in the midwest, the sellers who will have ten current listings on a single item with eight different prices, and the guy who lists his chinchillas for sale in the electronics section because they will stand out more. :D

Until PWK sold out to his cousin in the 1980s, Klipsch was the largest boutique brand around, and NOT by any means the largest. Only since Fred has owned the company has manufacturing shifted to China and elsewhere, but the Heritage manufacturing plant is still in Hope, AR.

And like all speakers, there is always something that can be improved.:thmbsp: I happen to like all my speakers.

And I work in the garbage disposal business.

Nah, it's cool. Some people don't care for Klipsh, and I get that. I do think they have a distinctive sound.

Why am I suddenly imagining a Borg-ified electronic chinchilla? :lmao:

I think it was Andy who did that. Great reference, Dave.*

*For those who don't know the reference, the "chinchilla business" episode of Amos and Andy was an all time classic. Thanks for the memories.:thmbsp:

Speaking of Internet rants... here's one now!

Truth be told, folks make the same mistake with Klipsch speakers that they make with JBL monitors, Altec 604 Duplexes, and myriad other speakers designed with high sensitivity, short excursion, and low distortion. These things need really (really) high quality signal to sound their best. High quality signal means high quality (clean) power. For many real-world listening situations, this will mean high quality power at 100 milliwatts or less. You'll get that from a single-ended (Class A) 2A3 amplifier. You will not get that from most reasonably-priced (and many unreasonably priced) solid state 200 watt per channel Class AB behemoths. Look at the THD vs. power curves of such an amplifier; they perform well at high power - but not at low power, and the listener's ears pay the price. The big ol' "space heater" Mark Levinsons are an exception, sort of... they're Class A solid state amps. (and they sound farking good)

Use your monster amps with 82 dB/watt@1 meter speakers. Try your LaSawzalls with Bob Danielak's "DC Darling" (750 mW per channel) and report back to the class.

My Cornies were utterly unbearable driven by a 100 wpc, transformer coupled McIntosh MC-2100. They (literally) brought tears (of pleasure) to my eyes the first time I hooked a 2-ish wpc SE EL84 amp (Decware Zen SE-84) to them... although they still don't hold a candle to the Altecs for me in terms of midrange realism.

OK, that's enough ranting for one full day from me...

take out the trash

I wish someone would throw away their trash Klipsch to me so I could find out for myself.

I've heard that the famous Klipsch have a distinct sound but this guy is a
Nut.

I can't imagine why someone would be so strongly opinionated over a speaker brand. Something tells me this gent has other "issues". I was somewhat sorry he didn't offer any brands that were acceptable to his tastes. Hmmm........

Oh, I dunno. I think many of us here have very strong opinions, ideas and tastes on what we think sounds good and what doesn't. Apparently Klipsch isn't his particular cup o Lipton. I can understand and appreciate that even though it was over the top.

And posted in a very strange place.
