Klipsch Forte 4Ω and Klipsch Forte 8Ω???

Treat them as 8 ohm. See e-mail below from Klipsch support when asked about KG 4's labeled 4 ohm. Call customer support, the phone # is below.

They may have been labeled 4, 6 or 8.
Back during that time frame a lot of or speakers shipped to Europe, they required the lowest impedance the speaker may drop down to
The set you have have been slated to go to Europe and never left the US
Here in the US they would be considered 8 ohms compatible

I have had two diffrent sets of the KG-4 and found them to play fine with any receiver I have used with them.
I would suggest to treat them as an 8 ohm speaker and you should be fine

I have to ditto Gatorvrx.

There's history behind the labeling issue.
Old story....old hat.

Treat them as 8ohm, you'll be fine.
They will perform well with almost any piece of gear you hook them up to.
As long as it isn't too anemic. :)
Heck.. I've heard, somewhere, that a boombox w/detachable speakers would suffice as a source.

I dunno.

A while back I took a pair of Forte's in trade for some equipment. When I got them home I realized that one was 4 ohm and the other 8 ohm. Assuming that I would never be able to resell a pair of "mismatched" Forte's I disassembled them planning to eBay the parts. What I found was identical components inside. Even though one had a square input cup and the other a round input cup the crossover parts were the same in both.

I put them back together and measured the impedance at the input. I don't recall what the measurement was, I'm thinking 4.7 ohms but they were both the same in spite of the labeling.

After a bit of digging I found a few references to 4 ohm Forte's being difficult to sell for whatever reason and Klipsch simply changing the stated rating to 8 ohms without making any change in the design.

Interesting to say the least. Well at this point in time I have to say that I've been running my KG 4's as 8 ohm as indictaed by my correspondence with Klipsch, and no problems yet even though they are labeled 4 ohm. Interesting, very interesting. Where's Paul when you need him.
 
...I have run my 6 ohm marked kg2s since 1989 (and their 2nd owner has too until I became the 3rd owner of those kg2s ;) ) on the 8 ohm taps without any problems...20 plus years and counting...:D
