Klipsch Forte II

I need price advice, on a clean and most likely fully functional pair of Forte II speakers.

I tested them today, they seem good but had different resistance values before use.. One was 10.7ohm, the other ran 4.7. The difference worried me but upon testing they seemed fine? The one running 10ohm did have a crackly sound like it was damaged but after some use it was running 20hz just fine. I had a loose wire at first...so yeah... No idea if that was the issue Sally.

After audible testing both speakers were 4.7ohm... is that change indicative of anything? Bad cap? Storage? I don't think there was an issue with the wooofer but I didn't want to drive them harder with my test amp and damage them (cheap Technics amp)

I couldn't test long given the circumstances but at moderate listening volume they put out good bass and good volume with the small amount of power I fed them (50watt amp). I was uncomfortable going louder in the auction area so they were at a good volume...

One passive radiator in one has a tear in the cone I can repair. The other had a small tear in a radiator surround but both are still sealed well (2-3 seconds when I pushed the radiator in to it returning). The torn radiator made some odd ratttle noise at 20hz, but that's extreme and hopefully it's just the tear flapping...

I really don't NEED these but I was fond of the Forte III I auditioned once. I know they are different and will make me want to drop more money into them (crites??) but it's an auction, so currently they're $55 and who knows how I'll do. The cabinets are clean, grilles mostly clean. Minimal screw rust.

I currently have Polk SDA SRS for my main setup and I'm picking between ADS L880 or L520 for regular stereo but I wanted a nice, clean, beefy setup that I can use when Polk's SDA effect doesn't appeal for select songs...and I feel these might outclass the ADS speakers. The SDAs opened my ears so I'm not sure the ADS options can compare but perhaps these? I can always sell some stuff..maybe haha.

Thanks, zebra.

I really wish I'd tested these harder but I guess I can fix them with crites woofers if one is damaged...pricey though probably worth it.

I've done some reading and it seems one *could* have a 'half-blown' voice coil but with how much bass the suspect woofer put out I feel like they're probably fine and I just hooked them up poorly.

I have paid $200 for a nice pair with missing grilles, and $200 for a black pair with grilles, within the past two years, so that's my reference point. I would go up to $250-$300 in the described condition...

Welp, they sold for about $340 after taxes and fees, too much for me not being sure about the woofer and having to fix that radiator. Guy right in front of me wanted them for resale... :(

Maybe I'll save for new tweeters for my Polk SDA'S. :)

Thanks everyone!

I think you dodged a bullet . Find a nice pair . There are lots out there .
Haha, thank you. Makes me feel better. One was missing a riser and that was also kinda weird. I get lucky, but I consider lucky to be inexpensive, too.

I paid <$600 for my (mint) Polk SDA SRS pair and they're some of the coolest speakers I've ever heard.

I'll keep an ear out for my next standard (non SDA) stereo pair or maybe refurb my acouatats whwhi I wait. Honestly forgot I had those...
