I don't think that's a good deal for either of those. A little on the high side but not too bad if you really want them.
 
I wouldn't waste my time with the KG4's. Pick up those Fortes for $400 while they're available. You MIGHT be able to wait it out for a year or so to find a pair for a hundred dollars less, but is it worth it?

Too high IMO. $450 is fair if their in great condition.

I sold my Forte 2s a month ago for $550 and the buyer has been very happy with them. There`s more a shortage of quality speakers in my area, so price may reflect that, but worth it to some at least.
 
Seems like they sell for 300-400 on the bay. Why not just wait till you can buy a pair there? That way you have "buyer protection" if you do not like them.
 
Fair deal on the Forte, good deal on the KG4. I owned both of these at the same time before I downsized to standmounts and a powered sub. IMO, they sound very much alike, (very good) and both can play insanely loud and remain clean doing it.
I think I would pick the Forte.

The reason I put $450 is because that is what the buyer said he will take, which just this morning has decreased to $400. It's the same deal with the KG4's, price the seller is willing to take.
 
I got $450 for my Fortes last year, and they were mint with all of the Bob Crites upgrades (XOs, tweets, mids).
 
I got lucky picking mine up for $200 a few weeks ago. They are the best speakers that I have owned. I got one of them recapped today and will do the other tomorrow. It was the first pair I have found around here but they were not really advertised. It was a garage sale ad that just said "Klipsch speakers". I also picked up some Minimus 7's there that I flipped to pay for the recap. Deals like that don't come around very often in this area. After listening to them a while, if I had the money and a pair came up for for $450 I would pay it.

Just spent the morning checking out craigslist looking for Khorns and ran across quite a few Fortes and Forte II all were in the $400 to $550 range. KG4's were at least $200 but I would get the Fortes. There is no comparison between the two.

I'm actually considering the Frote's. Grab them and post up my Chorus II's.
 
I paid $400 for my Forte II's. No mods. I would have paid $600 if I had to.

I have the KG4's as well. They sound nothing alike. The KG4's lack the midrange that the Fortes have for obvious reasons. The Fortes have much, much better bass for obvious reasons. However, the KG4's are pleasantly warmer than the Fortes.
