Klipsch Heresy II's... can participate in HT?

I'm a little bit lost as to what I can salvage from my existing audio system going forward... I have a set of Klipsch Heresy II (HBR) in raw birch with floor stands in excellent condition that have been with me since new in 1987. Their sound is excellent... a little on the bright side, but nothing that can't be managed with a little equalizing.

Anyway, I've been trying to make my way towards a more progressive HT system. My existing setup has been a Yamaha RX-V992 with the Klipsch HBR's in the front, Klipsch Tangent T10's in the rear, and a subwoofer not worth mentioning.

If I employ a 5.1 or 7.1 HT setup, would the Heresy's work well in the front section? Would it matter only on whether the Ohm rating is supported? Or does this whole shift into HT mean I'd really need to have a different set of speakers coordinated with the newer technology?

Please pardon any incorrect references or gaffes... I'm in the midst of trying to educate myself on HT, so there's much I don't know... :scratch2:

Best as I can tell there are several ways of thinking in the HT realm. There is the Dipole approach, satelite sub approach, on and on. Best thing to do is to read up on the room chracteristics and speaker integration with that then make up your mind.

With there being 5.1. 6.1, 7.1 and beyond it can get carried away very easy. For me I am quite happy with a 5.1 system using speakers like the DCM Time Frame 700's/ front and 500's for the rear. I have yet to, but will, integrate a sub. I have had many others speakers as HT as well, large and small but find this particular grouping the nicest yet for the room intended! FWIW- you can over power a room and have an unpleasant surround sound experience. I try to set my room up to where it is similar to the movie going experience. Speakers with a large off axis listening area work well for me- speakers with a beaming aspect- like some horns can be- turn me off as sitting in the room creates focused spots of sound with them.

Anyway that is my rant on the HT thing- maybe yours will certainly be differant.

Agreed. They should be fine as long as you have a center channel that generally matches the timbre of the Heresys. A third used as the center would be ideal.

The surrounds should be of similar timbre as well, but not as critical as the front three.
