Klipsch Heresy Question

Hello all. I found these Klipsch Heresy speakers at a Goodwill. They didn't have them plugged up buto I took a gamble. So the dust cover seems to be taped for some reason. Any ideas as to why this was done? I'm scared to remove the tape since the speakers seem to play fine as is. There is some cabinet damage to one, not sure what happened. Thanks for your time!

One of the moderators will step in and tell you that any question about value should be posted in Dollars and Sense. That said, the dust cap most likely just came loose. You can gently pull the tape off and re-glue the cap. It just keeps dust out of the gap where the cone windings move in and out of the magnet. I sold my Heresys for $300 and they were in the same condition of yours.

Oh ok. I'll edit to align with forum rules. Thanks for the info!

Yup, no value-based questions discussed here. You'll get repliesregardingbthat AFTER a mod moves this to the D&S section.

Regarding the dust cap. It may have simply come loose at some point and a previous owner taped it on. Buy some Aileen's tacky glue and install it correctly.
