Klipsch KG-2.5

EricF

Dumb bass player
Looking for a set of cheap ($100-ish) speakers for my moderate-budget, vintage-ish, all-analog setup, I came across a set of Klipsch KG-2.5s on eBay, and pulled the trigger. My searches haven't provided a ton of info on these particular speakers, but they look promising enough to give a run.

Input/experiences?

I had a pair of those back in the early 90's. I powered them with an Adcom 555 they rocked and handled the amp perfectly. Great speaker!!

Thanks! :thmbsp:

I'll be powering them with a Pioneer SX-780 receiver. In reality, I don't expect to be pushing anything very hard, but I'm expecting that the sensitivity of the KG-2.5s will pair nicely with the moderate power of the Pioneer (45W) and give me some decent bang per watt, if needed.

I run their bigger brothers the KG 4.2's. Great speakers and a quick call to Bob Crites and a few $$ for new caps will really wake em' up.

New caps wake up/clean up the crossovers. Over time, caps can leak and/or drift out of spec. You can also pick up some titanium diaphragms from Bob Crites as well. I have new diaphragms in my KG 4's, my KG 5.2's and even my Fortes. New titanium diaphragms and a rebuilding the crossover (caps)works wonders!

Thanks for the info. Not surprisingly, it looks like I can spend a LOT more on fixing my speakers than I spent on the speakers themselves - lol. It's good to know what my future options are.

Ten four....I sold my 4.2 last year due to down sizing & just bought a super clean pair of KG 2.2 on E bay.....to go with my Luxman R115 reciever...they should sound good....I did the Crites upgrade on my 4.2 years ago & may do these also?

I picked up a set of 3.5s for $40 and did the Crites upgrade for 140, so give or take 200 all together. Speakers sounds amazing. If you can find a cheap set of 3.5 or something similar then deff get BOB

Agreed....I am going to try these like new. 2.2s .due to space restrictions....but originally wanted the 3.2s......Rick
