Klipsch KG 3.5 with no highs

Howdy folks,

I acquired a pair of Klipsch KG 3.5 towers for free. One sounds pretty good, especially for free. The other one has no highs. Do you y'all think that its worthwhile chasing down replacement parts, like a tweeter ( ? ) or crossover for this speaker?

Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked the resistance of the tweeter with a digital multimeter? It should be in the 4 to 8 ohm region. If it reads infinity/maximum, the tweeter is bad.

Bob Crite is the man to talk to for replacement parts.

it's well worth chasing down parts, I have a pair of kg 3.5's and they sound great with my bogen rp60.
 
Some folks would say a Klipsch with no highs is an improvement. :D

I say that in a self-deprecating manner as a confirmed Klipsch-O-phile.

Probably needs a new tweeter diaphragm. Easy job to replace. Upgrades are available very reasonably from Bob Crites. Do them both at the same time. (Of course you should do some troubleshooting first to confirm... I'll let others chime in on how to do that since I don't really know.)

JonL, the ears on my head have also suffered somewhat of a problem with high frequencies over the last couple of decades, so the "punch" that these (err...this) speakers have is appreciated! Hell, all my friends that would listen with me are old and semi-deaf too. < G >

I've semi-lurked off and on for years. A cat known as (if I remember correctly) BlueLavaLamp turned me on to this site years ago.
