Too bad I won't be in Boston until Sunday. I would be all over these otherwise. Hope someone here gets them.

I got home from work in time to open the ad and hit "refresh" for a few minutes until the phone number appeared in it. I called immediately and was the first and only caller.

I picked them up today and am very pleased overall. I rubbed the oak veneer cabinets down with 000 steel wool, cleaned up with tack cloth, and rubbed them down with Old English Love Lotion for Your Wood (tm), re-glued the veneer on the removable bases, cleaned the grilles with a lint brush. Only visible flaw is a light water ring on top of one cabinet from a flower pot. Drivers are all intact and operational. Butyl passive radiators have some cracking around the perimeter where the mounting screws are. One has a small puncture in the rubber. Any ideas on the best way/glue to repair this? I'd say that overall they are an 8.5 out of 10. I also obtained one of the two metal stands. When the previous owner finds the other one they'll call me. Now here's the kicker. These speakers may end up costing me $20. :D The original owner asked if I could recommend something smaller "like, y'know, Bose or something." I told her I have a small HK receiver (I picked up for free) and a pair of Ohm speakers (cost me $20) she could have for "a few bucks." She said, how about $75?! I said, "it's a deal!"

I'll post photos tomorrow.

And the story just keeps getting better!

Nice deal all the way around on that one! You are happy, they are happy, life is good!

With the passive radiator, I think the important thing is to keep the cabinet sealed so repairing it from the rear would probably be the thing to do. I don't know the best 'glue' for this but maybe silicone sealant. Let us know what you do.

When you say "from the rear" do you mean from the inside? That's what I was thinking. Let me know. :thmbsp:

Man, this makes me long for my KG4's I sold to my father-in-law. They sounded really, really (really) good.

Good stuff.
