Klipsch KG4 vs Polk Audio Monitor 10B

How would you compare the Klipsch KG4 with the Polk Audio Monitor 10B? I currently own a nice pair of KG4s, but am really interested in the Polk 10Bs. Am I wrong in thinking that they are comparable speakers? The KG4s have a horn tweeter, two 8" woofers, and a 10" passive woofer in the back. The Polk 10Bs have a tweeter, two 6.5" inch mids (are they mids?) and a 10" passive woofer in the front. Is that correct? Are they similar in sound?

On the Klipsch that's a 12 inch passive radiator . I owned a pair KG4 way back and sorry I let them go , smaller version of the Forte's . Greater boogie factor than the Polks . The Polks aren't bad at all and are quite musical but the KG4s will smash them in volume and punch ,remember 2x 8inch woofers plus rear mounter 12inch passive R. on rear vs 2x 6.2 and a 10inch passive radiator . Similar in sound , nada ! If you really like the sound of your KG4's you'll probably find the Polks a little subdued once you get a chance to hear them . Oh ! I'm a horns fan so my opinion is definitely in favor of them as a group , especially when partnered with a solid tube amp . Thing is to go out and listen to them if you can and sell me the KG4s

I disagree. I had Kg4's and have 10B's....Kg4's are long gone. But I'm pretty sure I am not a horns man, so take that into consideration. I actually replaced the Kg4's in my living room system with some DCM TF400's, and liked the DCM's much more. Then replaced the DCM's with the 10B's

I had both and liked both. The presentation is different, but I particularly liked the Klipsch for low level listening. I did give away the Monitor 10s because I didn't like the vinyl woodgrain. The Klipsch with the Crites diaphragms are a good speaker. I'm not sure what is the so-called horn sound that many people criticize. I've found plenty of speakers without horns, both cheap and expensive, that are hard to listen to over time. Good luck. ADS and KEF are another couple of brands to try.
 
Had 10a's (Peerless, crossover redone) and KG4 (all original), loved both. Found both to be very musical and nicely articulate (but then, the 10a's had Peerless and I was running Clarity Caps and Mills resistors). Both dug pretty deep with smooth midranges. Hard to lose between them imo! But that tweeter in the 10Bs may be a little more aggressive than you might want ...
 
I have a chance to audition a set of 10Bs this weekend and I can't wait to hear them. I will say that they'll have to be pretty special to best these KG4s that I have, but ever since I first got interested in this money sink I call a hobby, I've been reading only good things about the 10Bs and I can't get them out of my head. So, we shall see, shan't we?

Oh yeah, I purchased a set of Crites tweeters for the KG4s but haven't really had the time to install them. I should do that before auditioning the Polks.
 
I have enjoyed some KG-4's Same with the Polk 10 b's. I will just say they are very different with the Polk's being a little more rock and
the KB's more refined. Enjoyed both but for different reasons. Either pair are great keepers.
 
Great. I'm about to have *another* piece of stereo equipment in the spare bedroom, aren't I? Whatever ends up in there will have a Realistic receiver, a Rega Elicit amp/JVC JA-S77 amp, and a set of Acoustic Research AR-2ax speakers. Nice roommates.
 
Big fan of both - had both, kept the Polk, no regrets but would bring home another outbid I found a good deal. I was running the KG4 with low power but I would like to know how they do with higher power and Crites. I have had lots of speakers come and go. The Polk Monitor 10 stay. Mine have the SL 2000 tweets. Would love to find some with peerless or RDO-194.
 
The guy selling the 10s never got back to me! I have since replaced the KG4s with a set of ADS L810s. I prefer the ADS overall, but I really do hear the boominess that people bring up with these speakers. I am currently looking to replace the 810s with 710s, but I'm really in no hurry.
