Klipsch KLF-30

Hey all,

There's a guy local here selling these for 400. I recently purchased ELAC Uni-Fi UF5 and like them but i'm a Klipsch fanboy. I've always heard great things about the KLF 30 and wanted a pair. Was curious if anyone has listened to both of these and had any impressions.

I can't comment on the Elacs other than you can have them in black or black. I owned the KLF 30s in oak finish. Those things were beasts. They are much larger than the Elacs to be sure. I always thought of those Klipsch's as 'in your face' sounding. If that is a sound you like, 400 dollars seems cheap enough.
 
If they were in my area I'd snap em up for sure! I have kg5.5's now and that would be the only other klipsch I would buy outside of a heritage model. I too have heard really great things about them. I believe they weigh over 100lbs a piece. Gotta be something in there, right?
 
snooze and you will lose that is a low price. buy try and re sell if you don't like them but don't sell them before you get rid of the stock poly tweeter diaphragm they are not a good diaphragm at all. Fresh ti tweeter diaphragms will make for a huge improvement to SQ.
 
I have a pair and paid $1,400 for them and couldn't be happier. Also upgraded the tweeters to bob crites' titanium tweeters and it made them even better. If I found a pair for $400 I would buy them in a heartbeat
 
if you like upgraded ti tweeters which in this design produce only harmonics you will love ti mid diaphragms (factory diaphragms are available from Simply Speakers) the mids reproduce all fundamentals and account for a much larger improvement. The tweeter will benefit by installing a layer of dynamat on both sides of the terminal tab which resonates and rings like a bell. Much else that you can modify but this is so easy and fast to do and makes a nice improvement. Have fun.

Does Bob do the ti mid diaphragms as well?

Also, one more question... would it be beneficial/worthwhile to do Bob's updated Crossovers?

OKAY! One more question, I've looked into the mid ti diaphragms some more and see that I would potentially need a bandpass mod... is this true for the KLF30, as well?

no Bob does not have a ti mid diaphragm available. Bob does have a phenolic mid diaphragm which I believe is better sounding than the stock Klipsch factory diaphragm. Klipsch factory diaphragms are available from Simply speakers. Some folks are sensitive to the break up modes of the ti diaphragms and if you are one of those people then the Crites phenolic diaphragm is the way to go.
Your speakers are old and they will benefit from fresh capacitors. With respect to the bandpass networks you can try out the ti mid diaphragms and see what you think. I have installed six sets of ti mid diaphragms and I did not feel additional networks were required. If you like what you hear you are good to go and if you think you need the network you can install it, your call.

No Bob does not sell a ti mid diaphragm. For those who are phenolic diaphragm lovers Bob does have a phenolic diaphragm which I find to be better sounding than the stock Klipsch unit. You can purchase factory Klipsch titanium diaphragms from Simply Speakers.
