Klipsch KSW-10

crazy-in-az

Uhhhh....
I just a got a Klipsch KSW-10 subwoofer at a yard sale for $20. Other than a loose dust cap it looks and sounds great.
Now, how do I use this with my stereo? I've tried hooking it up to the B speaker outputs on my Kenwood KA-3500, with my RSL VS-8s on speaker set A. The volume was very low.
The subwoofer has 1 pair of speaker level inputs and 1 pair of line level inputs (left input doubles as an LFE input). Would using my Technics surround receiver, with the sub hooked up to the LFE outpout, give me better volume?
:tresbon:

Hook your wires from the amp into the input speaker terminals on the back of the sub. Then connect the correct speaker wires from each speak into the output terminals on the sub. They are lined up one on top of the other on the lower left hand side on the back of the KSW. I do not feel like walking downstairs to look at the one I found last year at GW.

You are hooking up your B terminals on your amp without hooking up the speakers to the sub output binding posts. Be careful that thing will shake your windows lol.

Some 2.1 receivers will let you hook up a single RCA cable from the amp to the RCA input on the KSW.....all AV receivers will do this. I am assuming your amp is not 2.1 i.e. does not have a separate subwoofer output.

There are no output terminals, just 1 pair of left/right input terminals.

No, the KA-3500 is just straight stereo 2.0 (it's from 1978).

Connect the speaker wires from the amp outputs on your A terminals to the High level in posts on the sub...then connect your RSLs to the corresponding High Level Outs on the sub.....it is sort of confusing you may need to download the manual from Klipsch. I guess the posts are in the center. The LFE out RCA is the one I use on my Yammie AV receiver.

Okay, I think I get it now! Let me try that...

So, I would pretty much run two wires from my amps output- one pair would go to the sub, one to the speakers? That's what I got from the manual.

I have two subs....on both of mine you hook up the amp to the sub input terminals and the speakers to corresponding left and right out terminals on the sub.....just like the Bose Accoustimass speakers.

Yours are a bit different make sure you read the manual...I do not want you to damage anything...to me it seems like you just have inputs but no ouputs.....that is confusing to me.

Is it my imagination or does one have to bi-wire the speakers to your KSW-10?

Calling all Klipsch experts....

Yes indeed....it looks like bi-wiring....shows you how little I know about sub-woofer connections. Perhaps your sub was part of an integrated home theater system? I don't know.

I don't think so. I've found them for sale by themselves on Amazon, Newegg, etc.
I've got two wires going from each terminal on my amp, with one going to my speakers and the other to the subwoofer. Seems to work just fine.
Thanks a lot!

Your welcome....I learned something too .....not to jump to conclusions based on my own stuff!

It is very hard to leave a Klipsch sub at the thrift.....of course the wink link is the BASH amp...those have to work.
