Klipsch R15M port issues

Hello everyone. Apologies if this is in the wrong place or already discussed as this is my first time posting.

I’ve had a pair of Klipsch R15m’s for about 5 years now. My Sony TA-FB940R amp is the right match for these in terms of impendance, however there’s a new issue with the ports at the back.

Some frequencies (bass notes) make a crackling sound which comes from the back ports. To give an example, the drums to Billie Eilish “everything i wanted” causes it. I listen to music of all genres in 3 different formats, and it’s the same no matter which i use. There’s no visible damage to the cones, or the speakers themselves. Would anybody know the reasons for this? And how may this be fixed?

Since the port's only function is to tune the cabinet and move air, there's no reason it would be causing the crackling sound you're hearing. Are you're sure the woofer itself isn't the culprit? And glad to hear from someone in ol' Blighty!

Sounds like you like a lotta bass! Try dialing back on it. The woofer just might be bottoming out. It's only a little over 5". Maybe time to think about a sub woofer. I listened on headphones and couldn't discern any abnormalities.

I will try to lower the bass, however in the room I’m currently in, is quite small and I’ve heard this can cause reflections. Apologies if i’m being dumb, but i’m unsure how i would connect a subwoofer to my amp as it doesn’t have a connector at the back for one. Is there a way around this?
 
Many powered sub woofers have "line in" and "line out" connections. Connect the L/R speaker cables to corresponding line in inputs on the sub woofer amp. Connect the leads to the speakers to the line out connections.
