Klipsch RP-600M amp recommendation

Stereophile measured them at a little less than 90db. The specs say 96db.

Not sure about the accuracy of the specs or outside tests. But the ones I just tried in my space with a 6wpc amp did everything (SPL wise) that my KG4’s do.

Any thoughts on how the NAD D 3020 V2 would pair with these speakers?

I have the 3020v2 hooked to the RP600m. The little amp handles them well. No strain whatsoever. I listen to Jazz and Classical mid volume on the NAD (the 5th led from bottom). Cheers.

Just comparing to my other speakers by ear and my volume control. The actual Stereophile measurement trumps my ears and volume control so you can ignore me.

That’s weird, maybe , , I did the same with a SPL. They kept up with my stuff using 6wpc tube and a SS 10wpc classA, same levels before pushing the amp to hard. I think the KG’s and ADS’s are an easy 93ish. Could be wrong, just seat of the pants with a DB meter.

6 watts is plenty of power for the 600s to party. SWAG an SPL of 90db at 1 meter/watt, subtract 6db at your listening position, then add back 6db with two speakers and room reflections = 90db net. So 4 watts will get you to 96db and the full 6 watts get you to arouond 98db. That's really loud.

No where near full tilt to get to 98db with all three sets, maybe my buddy got a “good” set.

I agree that the sensitivity seems lower than the specs. That’s why I asked. Just wondered whether you had any hard measurements.

Sensitivity seems on par with some of my smaller Boston Acoustics speakers (A40 and 60) at around 90 dB SPL watt/m. Still not too shabby. And easily driven by quality low watt amps.

Nonetheless the Rp600s can pound out the sound!

Also I really enjoyed the Stereophile review. The RP600s stack up well with some top notch speakers but at a fraction of the cost.

NAD C316BEE V2. I use this with my rp 600 m in my office ,along with a schiit modi 3.

Exactly the setup I’m enjoying right now.

I would look for some pre-owned Hafler myself. Much smoother than D amps. More like a 7100, 754 or the bigger 7200. DH 500 would be to much. I think there was a DH 220. Audio Classics has a Hafter 60/60 watt amp and pre-amp. But I would want a little more amp.

I’m helping a friend put together a first-time system. He is leaning towards a pair of RP-600M speakers. I haven’t heard them myself, but as a long-time Klipsch Heritage user and fan, I like what I’m reading about the company today and these speakers in particular.

I need help recommending an amp to pair with these speakers. Here are the requirements:

- Integrated, not separates or receiver

- New, not used/vintage

- Solid state, not tube

- Built-in phono stage

- Under $1,000.00

All thoughts/opinions greatly appreciated.

You'll have a difficult time getting any further answers here at AK as many of us are into vintage ...

The Yamaha integrated amps certainly look the part but matching a new direct coupled unit to new Klipsch speakers might just be too much muchness ...

Topping PA5 Mk II can't be beat for $200. Only 2 line inputs though so no phono stage. Yamaha integrated are terrific. "Natual sound" indeed!
