Klipsch SW 115 Subwoofer

OK, picked up a Klipsch SW 115 at a local pickup ShopGoodWill (online bidding) center here in Las Vegas. Got it for less than $40, but I had no idea how BIG and HEAVY it was. 70 pounds, a beast. My first thought is try to sell it locally for a small markup, but if that fails, and assuming the beast works, would there be a market for working replacement amps? From fishing around it looks like the amps in these things fail pretty often (hell, maybe this one is failed!). And might there be a market for the 15" driver? Any thoughts appreciated! Not looking for pricing info at all, btw.

My old repair guy told me that the Klipsch sub amps were pure poop, fail all the time and are encased in that black tar crap, making them very hard to repair. Each time I went to his place, he had several each day getting delivered for repair. Maybe you got lucky. ??

I will test this guy next week and let you know! Yeah, Google suggests that these amps are super finicky.

I have three Klipsch SW-110. Two bought used with no issues. One bought 'not working - for repair' - easy repair - a shorted cap and an open resistor. No black tar. They use the same fairly generic BASH amplifiers that many manufacturers use.

I've heard their amps are made by ex-KGB agents who stuff them full of sand tar just to mess with Americans! Just goo up the whole damn box. Lol. I'll test these guys first, then maybe list locally for a bit if they work, then plunder the amp and driver for parts if it doesn't sell--I'll note that the tar alone contains about $20 worth of oil!
