I recently purchased a set of Klipsch Synergy F-3 from a friend of mine for a modest amount.
Despite the mixed reviews on these, I don't find them half bad, and enjoy the relative luxury of having dual 8" on a "modern" speaker. I've been on the hunt for "rock" speakers, and these may fit the bill nicely.
However, the aluminum dome tweeter combined with the horn loading adds a certain sibilance or splashiness to HF info, especially when compared to some of the better silk domes I've owned. So, curious as to if anyone has modded the tweeters in this line of speakers to help crisp up the top end?
I'd be of a guess that the challenge is finding the right tweeter spec-wise to match the output of the Klipsch one, closely followed with the challenge of mating said tweeter to the horn assembly. The factory tweeter has the clear plastic housing molded to it, so I'd likely need an adapter as well.
Seems like it could be a fun project as these speakers are really not all that bad.
