Klipschorn Date

Slumming in Akihabara
I heard this exact pair of decorator Klipschorns a few weeks ago. Looking up the serial numbers in the serial number sticky, am I right in concluding these ancient looking speakers date back to just March of '68? (I know, that is pretty old, actually.) The full page of photos is here:

Here's just a few shots from that page:

Thanks for posting. The owner did a great job of cleaning these up and did not remove the fantastic patina (decades old). I love the color and texture of fir with its amber warmth and character. Best regards Moray James.

I agree. At first blush I though they were home brew until I got closer. When I heard them they were set up against a wall and separated, but not in corners. The character of sound was familiar, having had Heresys, however, the bass was there, though a bit faint. I could imagine they'd show some authority in corners.

KD = Klipschorn - designer type (no grill, made through April 1987)

Year looks like 1969 based on the "G" code:

YEAR OF MANUFACTURE (1955 THROUGH 1983 ONLY)

A = 1955-63* F = 1968 L = 1973 S = 1978

B = 1963-64* G = 1969 M = 1974 T = 1979

C = 1965 H = 1970 N = 1975 U = 1980

D = 1966 J = 1971 P = 1976 W = 1981

E = 1967 K = 1972 R = 1977 X = 1982

Y = 1983

Decorator is technically the correct Klipsch nomenclature. Unfinished for those on a budget or those who wished to match their home furnishings.
